Lacanche is in the house!

This Lacanche Chagny range was born in Lacanche, France on June 3, 2015. It slowly made it's way to Canada and came to rest in our garage until today. Here's a photo record of the last leg of the journey to its home in our new kitchen.
It was all even floors from the garage to the kitchen except for these stairs that lead from the Costco room to the laundry room. Matt and Mike D. fashioned a ramp to get past this one obstacle.

I suspect Matt has a sore back now. That's an 800 lb stove.

Matt and Mike inspecting the attachments and seeing what needs to go where before they get the stove off the dolly.

It's all about leverage really or, as my dear friend Erin would say - It's a very physical thing.

Everything's lined up. Ready to slide it into place.

The star of the renovation - Home Sweet Home.

  1. Hi, I noticed on the Lacanche website that yours has a grill on top. Can I ask how you are liking it? I really want one, but the salesperson is sort of recommending I won't take it because it is too smokey. Can I ask what you think about it? Your reply will be very much appreciated!

    1. Hi Shin. We love our grill and use it often. That being said, we have a substantial ventilation system installed. With our ventilation system on "high" we can move about 1000 CFM and it needs to be on high if we're using the grill. Because of the size of our range we had to have something this large to meet building code. It also required the installation of a make-up air vent to bring fresh air into the house while the exhaust fan removed it. The system is so strong that, in the winter, it would literally pull smoke or furnace exhaust back down the chimney (not to mention sucking all the heat out of the house). The make-up vent has an electric furnace built into it that heats the air before blowing it into the house. In the summer, we just open a window to allow new air in. The fan for the exhaust hood is located on the roof and the fan for the make up air is in the basement but when they're both on it sounds like a jet starting up. I'll post some photos on the blog to give you a better idea of what I'm talking about. Cheers.
